Are the shelves really adjustable, or fixed in place?
The four middle shelves are adjustable. They move up or down in 1.97 inch steps on the frame's peg system, so you can open a tall bay for folders or art books and close the gaps up for paperbacks. The top and bottom shelves are fixed, since they tie the frame together. As supplied the shelves sit 12.2 inches apart.
How much will each shelf hold?
The source lists each shelf at 55 lb, on CARB P2 compliant board over a powder coated steel frame with a cross brace at the back. Raised rails on the front edges stop anything sliding off, and the wall mount strap in the box should go into the wall before you load it, which is the normal fitting step for a 70 inch freestanding unit.
